Usually, I use Mendeley for citation manager, I change to endnote because my professor using Endnote and made citation style for my theses (has custom because none of the journal style similar with my graduate school style). I already try using csl editor in mendeley or in zotero, but I still difficult for me to edit the existing style.
I start using student version of ENDNOTE X7 from 3 July 2016. In the first, I want u waiting for Endnote X8 release. But, I decide to buy ENDNOTE X7 due my time limit is near.
After I week using ENDNOTE X7.5
Interface :
- Mendeley is Better than Endnote.
Mendeley color combination is softer than Endnote. Endnote looks like out of date.
- Mendeley is more user-friendly.
although there is a feature to arrange the display. But it less choice and unsatisfied for me.
Storage :
- Mendeley has free storage for 2 GB and pays $4.99/mount for 5 GB.
- Endnote has unlimited $99.95 for 24 years.
Basically, if has a large storage of pdf file. it better to use Endnote as database library.
For me, It easier to use endnote as library database.
- By using normal ways, it sometimes difficult to give a name by using a symbol like appears in several journal title.
- Could check duplicate file
- save our annotation and importance notes
Advantage ENDNOTE X7.5 over Mendeley
Gather reference information
Mendeley use metadata as reference information and use DOI identifier as additional. While endnote only use DOI.
Not all paper has DOI especially journal published before 2000 and National journal.
